Curriculum

project9 - color study Born in Holland. Moved to France at the age of 10. First exhibition in 1967. Philosophy studies in Paris at the Sorbonne University. Participated in the “Salon des Artistes Indépendants” at the Grand Palais museum, Paris in 1975. Stepped by chance into the travel industry. Founded own company, travelled worldwide – a unique opportunity to see and, even more important, to listen – and the painting continued…For the last two years, studied at the Art Student League of New York under Larry Poons.

“Many, many years later I still remember the linear white and black winter landscapes of Siberia, as well as the striking contrasts of burnt sienna mountains staring defiantly at a nasty cobalt blue sky in Argentina. During a trip to Egypt several years ago, I realized it was time to drop almost everything and redirect the course. In fact, there was no other alternative. Crazy, yes, to give up the comforts of a secure job for this path. I must confess, I’m very crazy. Have you any idea how difficult it is to have faith, to remain exposed, especially at those times when nothing, absolutely nothing, comes to enlighten your day?”

Stéphane van Son’s paintings are displayed in private collections in the USA, France, Switzerland, Russia, and Argentina.
